About Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a lifelong developmental condition that affects how people communicate, interact and experience the world. Every autistic person is different — support needs range from minimal assistance with specific tasks to full-time intensive support.
What the NDIS funds
The NDIS funds supports for autistic Australians including speech therapy, occupational therapy, behaviour support, daily living support and more. Eligibility is based on functional impact rather than diagnosis alone. Early intervention funding is available for children under 7 and can make a significant difference.
