About ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects focus, impulse control and activity levels. It is one of the most common neurodevelopmental conditions in Australia, affecting around 6-7% of children and 2-3% of adults. ADHD often co-occurs with other conditions including anxiety, learning difficulties and autism.
What the NDIS funds
ADHD may be funded by the NDIS where it causes significant and permanent functional impairment. Because ADHD on its own does not always meet the NDIS impairment threshold, access decisions often depend on co-occurring conditions and documented functional impact. Supports can include psychology, occupational therapy, behaviour support and daily living assistance.
